Why God gave us Fall

There are no cuter pictures than children in a pumpkin patch.  Seeing them surrounded by beautiful orange pumpkins, hay and tall swaying corn stalks.  So what is it that makes these oh so delicious pictures a yearly favorite? the sweatshirts? the orange?  Is it that we finally get to wear our comfy clothes and sip a hot beverages and go apple picking?  Is it all of it?

Laying in bed with that cool breeze floating over your sheets as you lie there with the window just slightly ajar...mmmmm....cool, crisp fluffy fall sheets....

Oh but then there is the apple cider and apple cider doughnuts, walks in crunchy leaves and fluffy, warm socks.  Oh can't ya just curl up in the thought!!

Comfort food and toasty warm blankets draped across the couch.  The fireplace on while you sip on a hot toddy and watch the start of the new fall lineup on Thursday night television.  Kill me now!! Oh how I love fall.

The start of football...the World Series....Homecoming...craft festivals....UGG boots!!!!

Fluffy, comfy sweatpants...a bowl of soup...jeans and flip flops!!! Oh the joys of fall.  Can a season get any better?  Picking out pumpkins, Halloween dress-up, apple fritters!!!

All of it softening the blow to the biggest prank in Mother Nature's arsenal...Winter.  How else could a sane person venture from summer to winter?  How else could we so willingly go from bathing suits and sun dresses to boots and parkas?  There had to be a buffer, and that buffer is the adorable pictures of our children with big, bright, orange pumpkins.

So next time you take the cutest picture of your baby draped over a 40 pound pumpkin, just remember, you are looking at a big 'ol glass of Mother Nature's wine.  Cause she's gettin ya all nice and drunk so you don't even see her left hook.... otherwise known as WINTER!
