The Nap Vortex with No End in Sight
We have entered the inconvenient-nap vortex and it seems we may be here a while. I'd like to say I packed a sandwich for this trip to Nap-ville, but because we have to be home for naps...I can just sit in the kitchen and eat thank you.
Brock is now making it known that approximately two hours after he wakes up he would like to nap. This could mean a nap start time falling anywhere from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (oh how it makes it so easy to plan a life...) So what I do is I ask my nanny to sit with him while I get my nails done, go to the gym and get my roots touched up...OH WAIT, that's not my life. Ok, so I think about how mean it is that I am going to the gym, playgroup and gymnastics while he SHOULD be sleeping and don't so much care.
I mean he is in the 98 percentile for weight and height...a little lack of sleep should do this giant some good! Who needs to follow their growth chart and get their naps? Pa-leeze....
So today he woke up at 6:50 a.m. and it is 8:30 and he is like a zombie in his highchair BUT I NEED TO TAKE EMERSYN TO SCHOOL IN 30 MINUTES!! Sorry Brock, no sleep for you! So I will put him in his car seat, he will fall asleep in the ten minutes to school, then I will wake him up to take her in (I hate this school drop-off), then I will put him back in the car, he will fall back asleep, then I will take him out of the car into the gym as I do my very very best at keeping him asleep until I hit a door jam and wake him up...
Then....I will tell the girls at the gym's daycare that he was just sleeping and perhaps he will go back to sleep...only to come back in 90 minutes to find him either crying because he is so tired or out cold on one of the girl's laps...he's a lady's man, what can I say...
I'm sorry, bad mom...maybe? Need to get some "me" time...absolutely. I can't help it that he woke up and that the gym only has daycare till noon and that is when he wants to sleep and and and...I mean who the heck needs to be 6 foot anyway...he'll be fine, he can sleep at noon...right?
