She has been here before

When Emersyn was born I told Jim, "she's been here before."  He looked at me like I was nuts and said, "don't say that" as if it was a bad thing.  Now, he realizes that I was totally right and each and every day she reminds us that she has been here before.

Emersyn is the kind of kid that only needs me for a few things...ummm...hmmmm....ok, to make the mortgage payment.  Although I really think if I showed her how, even once, she could do that herself.  She just, well, has been here before.  She knows everything.  She learns something once and knows it.  She hears something once and remembers it forever.

She just doesn't seem to ever need me.  Little Ms. Independent.

It isn't that she is the smartest 3 year old on the planet, it is more like when she hears or sees something, it is like she is being reminded of something she already knew.  It is like "oh yeah, I remember that, thanks for reminding me."

Having a child like this is weird.  I am not sure what to do with a little girl that doesn't NEED me.  I am not sure if I like having a kid that is so self-sufficient.  Last night I was laying in bed with Brock putting him to bed and Emersyn came to our bedroom door and said "daddy, mommy, can you put me to bed now and read me a story, Fox and The Hound, Please." Really?  Now I don't even have to put her to bed?

She asks for her Remedy, she asks for her vitamins, she reminds me it is Wednesday and that she has dance class.  She's been here before, I just know it!

So what to do with a 3 year old that has been here before.  A little girl with an imagination as big as the moon, a mind as open as the sky and a heart as pure as the snow....learn from her, watch her, be like her.  For a child that is so newly from heaven, so aware of what she wants, what needs to be done and where she is going can only be one thing...inspired.

She is MY muse.  She is MY instructor.  She is my inspiration.

Jim now knows I was right on October 31, 2008 when Emersyn came into this world.  When he held her in his arms and she looked right into his eyes with complete knowledge and said through her eyes..."oh, it's you, I remember all of this!"  Oh, Emersyn, the places you will go!
