Thank God for the Gym

I never quite understood the importance of me going to the gym until this morning.  As Jim, Brock, Emersyn and I made our way from the parking lot to the preschool classroom, it never even fazed me that Emersyn could possibly have a problem with going to school?  Wasn't even on my radar.  So as Jim said "goodbye" to her and she said, "see ya tomorrow..." HUH? Tomorrow??... we knew she'd be ok.  As our focus moved from our smiling and content, see-ya-tomorrow-Emersyn, to the other six or so kids that were now screaming and crying, I was so thankful for the gym.

"The gym," you ask...oh yes, the gym.  I have been going to the gym since I was in high school and I have never stopped going...(except when I am really really pregnant and when the babies can't go in the daycare area..otherwise I am a committed member).  Anyway, I have always been a stay-at-home mom and therefore my kids never really get an opportunity to be TOTALLY away from me.  So it is because of the gym and dropping their butts off there that my kids have never been the ones melting down on the first day of school.

The gym...thank you as I am not so sure how well I would have done this morning if Emersyn would have been the one with a death-grip on my leg screaming "NOOOOO....DON"T GO.....PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME...."  Yeah, there was a kid doing that.

So we kissed Emersyn goodbye while she was starting some sort of clay project and off we went.  Out the door, down the steps and into the parking lot, where Jim looked at me with a white face and said, "I don't know what I would have done if she would have freaked out like that?"  And I looked at him and said, "thank God for the gym!"
