What about today will make tomorrow?

We have five weeks to go before Skylar comes back to New Jersey.  It has only been one week, yet it feels like forever, for me, Jim and Emersyn.
Cody speaking at his graduation

As Jim and I ate on Sunday afternoon we talked about how difficult it will be when Cody does NOT come back with her.  We talked about all of his stuff in the garage.  We talked about how we are going to miss his first day of High School...I have never missed a first day of school.  We talked about how we are going to miss his 15th birthday...I have never missed a birthday.  We talked about how it is going to feel so weird without him here.

We are all exactly where we are suppose to be, but I wonder why.

I wonder what we are in this place for and what purpose it will serve for each of our futures.  What do we need to learn?  What do we need to experience?

I know we will all look back on this time and experience and say, "ohhhh, ok, that makes sense now."  And until that time I will be patient with what I know to be a perfect plan.  I will trust in the process of life and allow it all to take place, even the crying and missing and wanting.  It all must take place.

It is the contrast between Ohio and New Jersey, the contrast between with and without, and here and there, that allows each of us to learn about what we want for our lives.  It is the contrast and the experience that allows us... forces us, to learn what we want.  It allows us to CREATE the life that we want.

It is what you are experiencing each and every day, what you buy, where you go and what you do, that forces you to create your future.  It is in the contrast that teaches you who you are.  And it is in this time that each of us, Cody included, will learn a bit more about who we are and what future we will create for ourselves.  It is the now that creates the future.

What about today will make tomorrow?
