The Surest Way to Get Your House Clean
The fastest and surest way to get me to really clean my house, fix all the that-shouldn't-be-there's and do the things that can be "done tomorrow" is to have people over. Today, I am having playgroup at my house and I haven't stopped cleaning and arranging and "hhmmmm...perhaps I should put away the AC/DC CD'S today?" sort of stuff since yesterday at 2:00.
I didn't nap, snack or stop bending while finally getting to the clutter that just finds itself in a place and camps out for the duration....that is, until I have people over.
This is a little gathering so the carnage wasn't to bad, but for a birthday party, or the like, I will go to extents not limited to buying entire living room sets. It is not that I do things that DON'T need to be done, it is more the stuff that should have been done months ago, but I put off...TILL THE PARTY!!!
So now my closets are clean, the floors are mopped, the CDs are boxed and downloaded and I am ready for company...the house never looked better.
This all has happened with the mass arrangement and re-arrangement of the "new baby" nesting that is currently underway. We have cleaned the garage, pulled out, gotten down and moved over all the baby stuff from the garage, closets and attic, and are in full nesting mode. The baby clothes are washed, folded and put in the drawers. The closets are re-arranged to make room for the "hooded towels" new babies so obviously need? and the ointments and nail clippers have found their way to the baby-changing-area.
The new baby doesn't have a bedroom so I have converted the upstairs foyer into a makeshift "room" complete with lamp, dresser, dirty clothes basket and club chair. If I do say so myself it looks pretty cute! You do what you can and pat yourself on the back as hard as ya can...right?
So the house is on it's way to ready for company, a birthday (literally) and anything else that comes my way. Now I just need my playgroup to show up at 10:30. The problem is that I don't think anyone is coming? Oh well, the house is clean and that makes everything right in the world.
