The Kid is as Dumb as A ROCK!
Yesterday I said the words that every preschool teacher knows she is going to hear each and every year during registration. Before I said those famous words I even warned her they were coming. So I started with "I know you hear this a billion times a year, but since I have three kids, I know what I am saying is true"....."my kid is really bright." AHHHHH, not the "my kid is really bright mom-comment!?!?
What I KNOW she was thinking----Really, so you are trying to tell me that your kid is smart and special and different from everyone else we have ever seen here at this preschool? Oh, ok...
No but really she is....
That is how my fantasy conversation went after I mustered up the courage to actually voice my opinion of my dear little Emersyn...she's special don't ya know?!
So I went on to tell the preschool representative how she is the 3rd child and yadda yadda... so they said that they would assess her when they met her and place her accordingly. Ya see she misses the 3 year old preschool cut-off date by 30 days so I will just have her repeat 3year old preschool if she makes the cut. I just don't want her with those paste eating 2 year olds while she is attempting long division and writing poetry...right?
Don't we all just think our kids are special? Don't we all just look at them in complete amazement and find, if nothing else, the one thing that makes them special and fabulous and amazing! When they are born we oooo and awww over the length of their fingers, when they are babies we brag about when they held up their heads or how strong their hands are. We just can't get enough of our little miracles.
But Cody is actually really smart. I always knew he was smart, but now I know for sure. We got his IQ tested and his tests scores showed that he is of "very superior intelligence." No really, my kid is smart! And now he is totally screwed! Now he needs to expect better grades, better class placement and better behavior. Now there is proof that he is a genius and can do better.
So at least I know when I said those dreaded words to HIS preschool teacher "Cody is really bright," I wasn't making it up then either.
I mean come on, who ever called a preschool and said "hey, I have this kid over here and she is as dumb as a box of rocks...ya think you could let her in?" I think they would celebrate that day, as I am sure no mother has ever uttered THOSE words!

my kids are brilliant too of course- so why oh why do they do such (dumb) things? lol- i'm really kidding- although our 3 boys do sometimes leave us scratching our heads!
